My time taking part in the Perkajum activity was really fun because I picked up some valuable lessons. I got ready for the camping trip by putting all the needed things into a camping bag. Before we went to the campsite, there was a ceremony in the school field, and I was in charge of leading the line. I left school in a military truck that the school had rented to go to the campsite. I camped on Mount Salak, Bogor. As soon as I got to the campsite, I started setting up my camping equipment in my tent. During this camp, we had help from members of the Dewan Galang who were there to assist us.

After I packed all my camping equipment into the tent, I went to the designated spot for the group prayer session. Then I learned about Islam. The rest of us went back to the tent to get dressed for the messy tasks. After I changed, me and the others went to the big field to do scouting activities. There, I learned how to catch and avoid venomous snakes. After that, we played various games at the campsite, like Morse code, semaphore, and activities that tested our sense of taste and smell. That night, we gathered around a bonfire, and I was in charge of hosting the event. At the bonfire, the Dewan Galang members gave a fantastic performance. After the performance, we did a group performance together. Then I went back to my tents to sleep. I was given the responsibility to guard the rotating tent.

The next day, I woke up and got dressed in my uniform for the Cross-Country event, which was an adventure through the mountains. After finishing the Cross-Country activity, I cleaned up because I got dirty. After I organized my belongings and got changed, I took part in the promotion ceremony and led the group. After that, I became the top participant in Perkajum, and I’m really proud of that.

In this camp, I learned several important things, like how to be a great leader, how to speak in front of people, how not be scared of getting dirty or facing the dark, and how to build a strong, disciplined, and brave character.
