POT RECYCLING AT CLASS MEETING JUNIOR HIGH 2023

8 December 2023, Junior High GIS 2 serpong held a class meeting event. This day, the first activity that we did was futsal competition, not only futsal that was being competed but there was an ultrasound competition, so even though some of the students wasn’t participating, they could all still participate in a competition, and the environment can be fun and exciting. The class that has the best ultrasound will win and get a prize.

In this class meeting, we also give the organizations chances to open a stand to sell their products. It also gives them knowledge about entrepreneurship, and how to deal with business.

One of our activity that we held is Pot Recycling with KIR & PMR. The purpose of this activity is to recycle a used water bottle or a used gallon, into a pot for a plant, and the finished product of the plants will be put around the school. This is one of the way to show our caring towards reforestation and a more lively environment for Junior High GIS 2 serpong.

One of the unique procedures of making this, is that we gave them an option to use hydrogel as a plant support for those who used water bottles, even though we can still use general herbal plants.

Why did we give hydrogel as an option? Because hydrogel can be use as an alternative to replace fertile soil. Each hydrogel grain contains the nutrients that plants need. Hydrogel has the ability to absorb and store water and its nutrients. That way, we don't need to water the plants often, because the plants already get the nutrients from the hydrogel.

And for those who brought baby gallons, they have to use fertile soil unlike those who brought water bottles. And so, to make it easy for them to rarely water the plants, we gave them a flannelette. The function of the flannelette is to make the water from under to rise above, this is called capillarity

We also encourage them to decorate their recycled pots with various options, this way they can explore their creativity in a helpful activity. The recycled pot with the most creative decorations will earn a prize from us, this is one of the way to show our appreciation for their extra dedication and creativity at this activity.
