Every journey starts with a single step, and for every new student, that step begins with the School Orientation Program (MPLS). The time that comes only once a year has finally arrived, and it is time for JHS GIS 2 Serpong to warmly welcome the new students who will enroll in our beloved junior high school. For some students, starting a new journey at a new school can feel both exciting and scary. Therefore, this year we are taking a friendlier approach while still upholding the core values of our school throughout the School Orientation Program.

The theme of this year’s School Orientation Program is “Growing with Character: Rooted in Faith, Ready for the World,” which carries a very deep meaning. It is not just a slogan, but also reflects GIS 2 Serpong’s commitment to shaping a new generation that not only has academic excellence, but also upholds Islamic values, demonstrates leadership skills, and is well-prepared for the future.

This year’s School Orientation Program includes a variety of activities designed to make the experience both fun and meaningful. A few examples of these activities include the anti-bullying campaign, which teaches students the importance of respecting others and helps prevent bullying, as it is an unacceptable act. We also carry out the Go Green initiative, which encourages students to develop environmental awareness by caring for and protecting nature while promoting a healthier and greener environment.

Starting a new journey at a new school can be challenging and frightening for some students because they must adapt to an unfamiliar environment. Because of that, all of us are happy to help the new students get to know the school and adapt more comfortably to their new learning environment. The School Orientation Program (MPLS) should not be something scary—it should be an enjoyable experience where students can meet new friends, teachers, and many other people.

The School Orientation Program is not only about entering a new school; it is about learning new things, growing, building good character, and taking the first step toward a new journey. Hence the title of this article, “A New Journey, A New Beginning.”
